...and gave it a 8.5.

Crash Bandicoot 2 was one of my earliest games when I first got my PS1 when I was a lot younger. Unlike the first Crash Bandicoot game which I've still got on my Xperia phone, it is nice to play some Crash Bandicoot now and then but however in Crash 1 the game is still hard to beat and having to save either by clearing the stage without dying and obtaining a gem or clearing the bonus stages.

Story takes place just after the first Crash Bandicoot game where Dr Cortex has found a crystal in a dark cave and finds out that there are more crystals out there which he could use to gain more power. So he hires an old friend which turns out to be Crash Bandicoot and is now is collecting crystals.

Unlike the first game where you're going through one stage at a time, now in Crash Bandicoot 2 you can access any level you want in the warp room, each of the rooms will have 5 levels to choose from. Each of the levels you go through you'll obtain a crystal more you collect in each of the levels you'll unlock another area which will have another set of levels to choose from.

Yet another thing that pleased its fans is that you can save your game at any time you like and even load your game where you left off. Apart from collecting crystals you can also collect gems which can be collected by either smashing all boxes but even if you die half way you can still earn a gem if you smash all boxes or doing certain challenges or special stages which you can obtain a coloured gem.

They have fixed the gameplay issues which were used in the first game you've now got the choice to using analog sticks to move around, and using the circle button to skid/slide or holding down circle to crawl. But you can press X and then Circle after to do a body slam on metal boxes.

What still impresses me that the graphics have not changed at all since the late 90's you can actually now purchase this on the PSN store and download this on your PS3, PSP or PS Vita. The graphics still look great as they were back then Naughty Dog really sure know what they were doing when it comes to platformers on the PS1. Clearing it first time round shouldn't take you that long it does feel like a short game but if you want to get 100% it should take you a little longer to obtain everything. This is still highly worth recommending to anyone who's into retro gaming or a love for games that were great on the PS1.
